Five Skinstitut products contain high concentrations (1.5% to 4.0%) of Synthetic Snake Venom (SYN®-AKE).
SYN®-AKE is a new anti-wrinkle active compound based on a synthetic tri-peptide that mimics the effect of a peptide that is found in the venom of the Temple Viper. This compound imitates the parts of the venom that cause relaxation of facial muscle contractions in a similar way to Botox®, blocking the neuromuscular contractions that cause facial muscle tension. Thus, wrinkles are visibly reduced when muscle contractions are inhibited. Whilst SYN®-AKE may note be a true substitute for Botox® or cosmetic surgery, it nevertheless is a non-invasive approach and a much less costly option.
SYN®-AKE has excellent smoothing and fast anti-wrinkle properties that have been proved in vivo in a short term study (1 month).
