While there’s no ‘secret’ food for healthy glowing skin, incorporating certain foods that are known for improving the skin health & appearance in your diet can definitely help! Nourishing your body from the inside and out will give your skin the best chance it has to be clear and luminous. 

1. Papaya

Papaya is rich in Vitamin C to boost our immunity (great for keeping those pesky winter flus away!) and contains an enzyme called Papain, which has amazing exfoliating and skin rejuvenating properties. It gently removes dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and improves skin texture and appearance. 

Tip: Papain is concentrated in unripe (green) Papaya and the enzyme is limited in the fully ripe fruit – so we suggest a balance of eating ripe Papaya for its high Vitamin C content, as well as eating the semi-ripe fruit.

2. Avocados

An abundant source of healthy fats (particularly monounsaturated fats) which hydrate and moisturise the skin. Avocados are rich in nutrients like vitamin E, and antioxidants, which help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.

3. Berries

Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are packed with antioxidants to help slow down the ageing process and vitamin C which support collagen production and improves skin elasticity.

4. Seeds & Nuts

All seeds & nuts are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin. Two of our favourites are Walnuts & Flaxseeds, they help to maintain skin barrier function and prevent dryness and inflammation.

5. Dark Chocolate

The one you’ll be glad to see on the list! High-quality, vegan dark chocolate (70% or more cocoa) contains flavonoids that improves skin hydration, increases blood circulation and visibly improves fine lines and wrinkles.
