The latest makeup trend that has gone viral in the last few weeks…contour & concealer under foundation…does it work?
Ever wanted makeup as perfect as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner? We thought so…you and the rest of us!
You’re in for a treat because Mary Phillips, the supermodel/ celebs makeup artist, has revealed her biggest secret for a fresh, sculpted, flawless look. Read on to find out how you can look as sculpted as these girls.
The Backward Technique
We all know that it goes foundation, concealer, contour…but not anymore!
Yes, that’s right the latest trend has revealed the pattern should be contour, concealer, foundation and it doesn’t stop there. Mary Phillips doesn’t use a beauty blender; she doesn’t use a foundation brush; she uses a big, fluffy powder brush similar to the Youngblood YB5 Cheek Blush to apply the foundation.
Mind Blown? So are we.
The Expert’s Guide To Snatched Makeup
Step 1: CONTOUR
Apply a cream contour, like the Napoleon Perdis Cheek Switch Creme Contour Stick, to your cheekbones, jaw line, the bridge of your nose and around the hairline on your forehead. These are the areas you’d usually be applying a bronzer to.
Mary uses a cream contour because it enables her to have further control when blending and it will give the skin a natural, contoured glow.
Step 2: CONCEALER
Now it’s time to add some lighter tones to your face, to give that bright, illuminated look. Mary goes in with a light concealer over the high points of the face that you’d like to have brightened. Usually this would be undereye, forehead and chin.
Now that you’ve got your two base products on, it’s time to go in with a fluffy powder brush to blend it together. This is where it’s important that you blend everything seamlessly, so that you get that natural snatched look.
P.s: It’s okay, you still think your makeup is looking a bit harsh, the foundation is the secret to a complete & flawless look.

Step 3: FOUNDATION
The final step to a runway model makeup look. Using a liquid foundation, pump a small amount onto the back of your hand and using that fluffy powder brush, gently buff the foundation over your face, starting at the centre and working out.
Top Tip: Start at the centre of your face and gently buff the foundation outwards in upwards strokes for the most natural finish. This will also mean that you won’t have that nasty, caked foundation-in-your-hairline look!
Et voila! You’re now snatched, sculpted, contoured and flawless…what more could you want!
