How To Get The Best Result From Your Self Tanners
How To Get The Best Result From Your Self Tanners
We’ve all had bad experiences with self tanners at some stage and you could say it’s all part of the learning experience…but if you haven’t tried self tanners yet, we’re here to guide you through the process and save you from a streaky, patchy and orange tan!
Where to Start
Step One: Exfoliating
This is probably THE most important stage of the self tan process. Use a scrub in the shower to remove any dry skin. I usually exfoliate my whole body, rather than just the dry patches as this will help with an even end result.
I highly recommend using one of the below products:
BUTT NAKED COFFEE + EPSOM BODY SCRUB 250G
Step Two: Moisturise
Despite self tanners being hydrating and good for your skins health, we still recommend using a moisturiser in certain areas before applying your self tanner of choice.
Top Tip: Apply a thin layer of moisturiser to your knees, elbows, ankles, feet and knuckles as these tend to be the driest areas.
My favourite body moisturisers:
ENDOTA SPA ROSE & TASMANIAN LAVENDER HAND & BODY LOTION 250ML
LANCOME NUTRIX ROYAL BODY LOTION 200ML
WELEDA SKIN FOOD BODY LOTION 200ML
Step Three: Self Tanner
Now it’s time to tan. This part depends on which tan you decide to go for but I would always use a mitt and use circular motions to apply the product all over your body.
Here are a few of my favourite Self Tan Mousses:
WOTNOT CERTIFIED ORGANIC TAN MOUSSE ULTRA DARK 150ML
LOVING TAN DELUXE BRONZING MOUSSE - ULTRA DARK 120ML
SUNESCAPE SELF TANNING MOUSSE - MONTH IN MAUI 150ML
Step Four: Face Tan
When it comes to tanning the face, I usually use a mist or tan water. I find this gives me the best result for a natural, blended and even colour.
